Quiet weekend ….

Aloha, all …

Taking it slow this weekend … had some minor surgery on my back last week.  Normally they would have just stitched it up and I’d be good to go, but since it was infected they had to leave it open to drain – gross!   Good news is that I’m feeling much better and should be fine in a couple of weeks.   I feel sorry for Carla, though, because she has to clean the wound and change the dressing 2-3 times a day.  She must really love me!

This year’s starting off kinda junk; first our flight last month from Tokyo had a big delay and we almost missed an important gig, and now Alex is stuck in snow-bound Tokyo, trying to get a flight back for another big gig tomorrow night.  Then my back starts causing problems … man, I feel like some major karma is being burned!  I’m doing my best to stay positive, though ’cause I know everything will all work out in the end.

Went to the Punahou Carnival yesterday for a little while .. was desperate to get my gyro and malasada fix.  The Punahou malasadas are THE BEST – period.  The batter is the school’s secret recipe which they’ve had for decades.  They used to use it to make fresh donuts every morning back when I was a student … I used to go to the snack bar every morning to grab a couple before class.  That’s probably why I was really husky (ie: fat) back then!  In fact, just thinking of those delicious fried pieces of dough covered with sugar & cinnamon is starting to make me drool …

Aloha, “D”
