Last week of June …

Howzit, everybody!  Hope you all had a great weekend … I’ll be heading up to LA this week to spend some time with a good friend who just had open heart surgery at the UCLA Medical Center.  I understand that there’s a heat wave going on right now, so at least I won’t have to bring a jacket!  We just got home after performing at the R.E.A.C.H. Out fundraiser over at the Pagoda Hotel which included us, Anuhea, Justin Young, Weldon Kekauoha, Patrick Landeza, and many other great local musicians.  The place was packed as people enjoyed the awesome food and drink provided by many of the top chefs in town while music was provided at several stages throughout the property.  Mahalo to Kurt, Duane, and all of the volunteers who made this great event possible!  By the way, it was great to see my buddy Jack Ofoia and his daughter Sammie there … hadn’t seen Jack in quite a while .. great guitar player and friend!

So since Nick is still on the mainland, we performed as Manoa”DA” this past weekend (or should I say ManoaDA”M” for Mark! haha!).  Gotta give Mark credit for singing Nick’s high harmonies … bet he had to wear his extra-tight thong for that one!  Yeehaaa!  In any case, good job Mark-san!  This week it’ll be Alex & the Leftys at The SWIM and Lulu’s and then MDNA will be performing at a couple of special events on the weekend … so we won’t be at Kani Ka Pila this week (sorry!).  Like I’ve mentioned before, if you haven’t checked out Alex & the Leftys yet, go see ’em … they’re really good!

“On the road again …”

Aloha, “D”
