Now, I usually stick to music stuff when I write for my own personal blog, but this one just has to be told.
For those that are Apple freaks, like me, you may get a kick out of this. Floating around the mac online universe today is a small hack which allows you to use your iPhone for internet tethering. For those unfamiliar with this, it basically allows you to use your iPhone as a modem to connect to the internet with your computer. I don’t want to be responsible for any problems, so I won’t post the direct link, but if you Google it, I’m sure you will find it. Remember though, this is probably in violation of some EULA and there may be usage penalties so be careful!
Anyway, the real reason for this post is my following conspiracy theory. I am not what you would call a conspiracy theorist, but I do like to imagine…
Conspiracy theory: “AT&T vs. Apple”
Here’s what I think. Apple got wind that AT&T is gonna charge $55 a month (SOURCE: TUAW http://bit.ly/s7H06) for internet tethering, making it virtually impossible for a mass market acceptance. But, Steve Jobs, in his infinite wisdom, wants people to know that his iPhone is awesome with tethering. So, he has his coders “leak” out a small hack that will allow people to use the tethering option for free. He knows AT&T will kill or demand the killing of this hack pretty quickly, but this should allow people enough time to try the tethering option and push even more praise into his iPhone. Without this “leak,” and the $55/mo. price tag, people would have never been able to try the tethering and see that iPhone kicks ass!
