IOLANI Anniversary!

Good morning!  Next month will be IOLANI on KONA ST.’s 1-year anniversary and I can’t believe it’s already been a year since we opened!  My, how time flies!  Carla and her dedicated crew have done an amazing job and we’d like to express our sincere mahalo to all of our customers and friends for their love and support!  We look forward to presenting you with an even more exciting IOLANI in the years ahead!  Yeeeeehaaaa!!

Last night we had dinner with my aunt & uncle from Kaua’i over at the Wai’olu Lounge in the Trump International Tower in Waikiki.  The food and view were outstanding – the soft-shell crap appetizer with bell pepper bisque was awesome and their black truffle risotto was to die for!  The staff was very friendly and accommodating, but the hotel itself is kind of sterile … I had expected a more impressive decor, especially since it carries the Trump name.

We have another great lineup of performances this week … Lulu’s on Friday, Kani Ka Pila on Saturday, and the Aloha Heaven concert on Sunday at the Hawai’i Convention Center.  The Aloha Heaven concert is a celebration of the 10th anniversary of JVC’s most popular Hawaiian music compilation album in Japan of which ManoaDNA has been privileged to be a part of it.  We’re also putting the finishing touches on a single which Alex & Nick worked on for the victims of Japan’s tsunami disaster and it should debut before we leave for our summer tour next month.  It’s called “FEEL THE LIGHT”, an emotion-filled song composed by Alex as he watched the first video footage of the tsunami coming ashore in Japan.  Everyone, including our engineer and other musicians donated their time and effort to help put this single together so I want to send a HUGE mahalo to Milan, Jake, Mark, and Seann for all their kokua!  The single will be available through download and CD with all proceeds going towards the disaster relief effort, so stay tuned ….

Aloha, “D”
