Aloha, peeps! It’s Thursday, which not only means afternoon golf but is also the start of the Na Hoku Festival weekend! The Na Hoku Hanohano Awards is Hawai’i’s version of the Grammys which is usually held in the month of May. The weekend-long festival begins today with the opening media party at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and ends with the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards banquet on Sunday night. ManoaDNA will be performing at this morning’s media party along with Amy Hanaiali’i, Brother Noland, and others, since our CD “EVOLUTION” was nominated in three categories this year – Engineering, Group of the Year, and Contemporary Album. We’ve been very fortunate since all three of our CDs have received Na Hoku nominations in the past.
Photo corner: Here are more pics from Fukuoka. We had lunch at the same seafood restaurant from our previous trip although I still can’t remember the name – damnit! There’s a huge tank in the middle of the dining room filled with all kinds of live seafood which is really cool .. but the best part is the lunch special which they serve every day to the first 500 diners! Check it out … it’s only about $14 ( and for Japan, that’s CHEAP!).
Aloha, “D”
