Good morning, everyone! Today is the 2nd anniversary of my father’s passing and I plan to go up to Punchbowl to visit his grave this morning. For some reason, I woke up very early this morning with the song, “DREAMS COME ALIVE” in my head … it’s the song which Alex wrote as a tribute to my dad right after he died. All of a sudden, I was filled with a wonderful, secure sense of bliss – like when you’re huddled with your sweetie under a warm blanket on a cold night – and I immediately knew that my dad was alive in our hearts and still watching over us. Funny thing, though … to this day, ManoaDNA has still not played DREAMS COME ALIVE at any of our performances … still too emotional. And I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday who, while listening to the song for the first time, burst into tears because it reminded her of her late parents …
We got our shipment of wristbands which we’ll be taking up to Japan next week to help with the fundraising efforts … they’re bright green with “KIZUNA” and “PEACE, LOVE, ALOHA” in bright yellow letters. We’ll also be selling a new tee shirt which Nick designed and all those profits will be donated to the benefit fund too.
Finally, we are truly honored to have been nominated for a 2011 Na Hoku Hanohano award in 3 categories – Engineering, Group of the Year, and Contemporary Album of the Year. We humbly send a big mahalo out to everyone for all your love and support!
Aloha, “D”
