Mid-week Wednesday

Watch out, everybody!  It’s Wednesday the 13th!!  Wait – oh, yeah .. it’s Friday the 13th that’s the bad luck day – sorry, mistake!  At least I got your attention!  Hah!

Last night I was watching the 10 o’clock news and saw that many of our local charities are experiencing very tough times due to the poor economy and because a lot of the current personal and corporate donations are going to aid Japan.  It was a sobering reminder that we must not forget the local charities who help our community here at home and that we need to make sure that they are also taken care of!

Last night was take-out night from the original Side Street Inn for dinner.  I brought home the usual – kal bi ribs, pork chops, fried rice, yakisoba, and a farmer’s salad … a feast fit for kings!  I always enjoy having a beer with the regulars at the bar while waiting for my food … definitely one of life’s simple pleasures!

By the way, did anybody out there watch Taimane Gardner’s performance at the Kokua For Japan telethon this past Sunday?  I’m curious to hear what you thought of the song that she wrote for Japan, because several people who heard it told me that some of her lyrics were offensive and inappropriate.  I checked out the replay a couple of times and let me just say this – I think Taimane is a wonderfully talented musician, but if she was trying to make some sort of political statement with her song, then she was out of line … especially when we were all supposed to be there to support Japan – not judge them.  ’nuff said …

Aloha, “D”
