Aloha Friday!!

Aloha kakahiaka, my friends!  It’s Aloha Friday here and the end to an exhausting and emotional week for me & my family.  Although the news coming out of Japan is still not good, massive rescue efforts are well under way and aid is starting to pour into Japan from many foreign countries.  Meanwhile, we in Hawai’i will continue to do whatever we can to help the effort!  However, I also want to throw in a word of caution – beware of guys out there who will try to take advantage of your generosity for their own benefit.  Already heard stories about bogus online solicitations so be careful, my friends …

We dropped off 37 cartons of warm clothing at the Our Redeemer school site yesterday.  The clothes, along with other supplies and donations, will be flown by military transport directly to Sendai airport which was just reopened.  I know it may be too late, but if you want to add stuff to this shipment please take it to Our Redeemer before noon today.  Mahalo! to everyone who came down and donated clothing … your kindness and generosity was overwhelming!   I also want to send a special mahalo to Erin Choy for bringing us all the packing boxes, and to the U.S. military for allowing us to include the shipment on their flight!

ManoaDNA is back at Lulu’s tonight and Kani Ka Pila tomorrow … life is slowly getting back to normal!

Aloha, “D”

  1. Aloha all in Hawai’i! Zillions of mahalos for your donation! Not only in Sendai, but many in Fukushima and Iwate (and other small places too) need our help and support. Nothing is too little. Any thought can help those in need. We hope Manoa DNA come to Japan soon to cheer us up with your music and aloha!
