Rain is back ….

The rain that was forecast for this weekend has finally arrived .. at least in Manoa!  What perfect timing, though … right after the Punahou Carnival and Kani Ka Pila!  Speaking of the carnival, ManoaDNA played before a packed house Friday night up at the Hawaiian Plate.  It’s always great to come back to our alma mater and see everyone …

Saturday was another absolutely gorgeous day, so I played golf in the morning with some of the guys from my Thursday group.  I was finally able to put together a consistent round and ended up shooting an 82, winning the overall jackpot!  That’s not necessarily a good thing, though, because the winner ends up buying lunch and drinks afterward so if the guys are in a “drinking” mode, you’re dead!

Later that evening we were back at Kani Ka Pila for another night of music & fun … and fun it was!  There were lots of visitors from the mainland, Canada, and Japan in our audience and it was standing-room only throughout the night.  At the end they were dancing on the floor and in the aisles … good fun!  Jesse Kuhaulua (sumotori Takamiyama) was there to catch our show, along with my pal Wayne Miyao.  Also returning was well-known Japanese musician / composer Yohito Teraoka, and his wife Ayako, along with his 3 young daughters.  And I’m glad that our Yokohama friends – Yoshiaki, Aiko, and Chinami – were also there to join in the merriment!  Our HPD pal, Grant, came down with his family to celebrate his 40th birthday with us … congrats, brah, and may you have many, many more (birthdays .. not kids! haha!)  Lastly, a sincere mahalo to all of our family, friends, and the KKPG staff, for making it another special evening at KKPG last night!  You guys are “da bess”!!

Aloha, “D”

p.s. Oh yeah … in case you’re wondering why there are no photos, I lost my camera!  Damn!
