Brrrrr … it’s cold!

This has GOT to be one of the coldest mornings ever .. I have a sweatshirt and house slippers (still wearing shorts, though) on and I’m still freezing!  Must be 60 degrees or less … I know, you guys on the mainland are probably laughing your asses off at me because 60 degrees is like summer weather to you!

Started back at Lulu’s last night and felt a little rusty and out of sync … just couldn’t quite get in the groove.  It always takes a few gigs to get back into the swing of things especially after a long layoff.  Things should be better tonight at Kani Ka Pila.

We did another early morning appearance on TV for the annual Japanese Chamber of Commerce New Year festival which is this Sunday.  One of the food booths will be featuring “Kaua’i Flying Saucers” …. OMG! I remember Flying Saucers from small kid time when I used to spend summers on Kaua’i, and my cousins & I would go to the local bon dance and eat these tasty little sandwiches!  Wow … I have got to go and check them out!  Here’s a photo of the mold that they use to make the sandwiches … it’s pretty much like a sloppy joe between two grilled pieces of bread – but it’s soooooo ono!!

Speaking of mold, we went to eat breakfast at Likelike during TV takes and lo and behold .. guess what I found in my jelly container?!  Check out the photo … pretty gross, huh? When I brought it to the attention of the waitress, she just shrugged her shoulders and said, ” hmm .. looks like mold.”  Duhhh, you think?!!  So next time you open one of those jelly or jam containers, make sure there aren’t any “extras” in there!  They might charge you extra!  Hahaha!
