Mid week

Aloha, everyone!

It’s Wednesday – the final week before Christmas!  Moreover, it’s two days before Dec. 21st, the end of the Mayan calendar – the day when the world is supposed to come to an end!  And what better way to spend this last day on earth than at Gordon Biersch enjoying some great food, drink, and music, all for a good cause!  This Friday is also our 4th annual “Boys And Their Toys” toy drive for Toys For Tots, and we’re inviting everyone to come down, bring a toy, and enjoy an evening of merriment because no matter what happens we’re gonna have fun!

I was amazed at yesterday’s traffic … it moved very smoothly and drivers were actually courteous!  What a contrast to the day before when everything was gridlocked and everyone was pissed off!  I sure hope it stays this way for a while .. it’ll make Christmas so much more merrier!  Speaking of merriment, I had lunch with my pal Alan yesterday at Yohei in Kapalama (mahalo, Alan!).  I love the place and always order their maguro and natto donburi bowl … it’s soooo ono!!  I know a lot of you out there are thinking “Natto?!  Yuck!”, but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it – it’s not only delicious (and smelly!) but very good for you too!  Afterward, I drove over to the KoAloha ukulele factory to pick up a donation for this Friday’s toy drive (mahalo again, Al!) and ran into Alvin, Al’s dad and the company patriarch.  For those of you who don’t know the Okamis, they are the kindest and most generous people that I know and we are truly honored to be their friends!

Later in the evening we performed at the Kamehameha Lions Christmas party and then I headed home.  It had been a long day, especially since I had been up since 3:30am!  Can’t relax yet, though, because we still have events all the way through Sunday.  But after Sunday … IT’S VACATION TIME!!

Aloha, “D”
