Aloha, John ….

Aloha, everyone!

I was very sad to hear that John Koko of the Makaha Sons just passed away.  I can’t believe how many members of our musical ohana we’ve lost already this year … what the heck is going on?!  The Makaha Sons are truly one of Hawai’i’s best and John’s music and humor will be sorely missed …

This will be another busy week for MDNA including a rehearsal tonight, special events tomorrow and Thursday, Lulu’s on Friday, and another special event on Saturday (No Kani Ka Pila this week – sorry!).   Next week will also be a little crazy since it’s the 4th of July …

Met the boys at Shirokiya’s Yataimura food court last night for some beer and pupu, and ran into old friends Jed Inouye and Milton Holt.  Jed was a college classmate up at Lewis & Clark College and is now involved in running some of the food operations at the food court.  Milton was my fishing buddy for many years and is now busy raising a family and working at the legislature.  It was really great to see these guys again … brought back some great memories, for sure!

Aloha, “D”
