Howdy, peeps! It’s Tuesday and I’m in a fight to the death with the jet lag monster … however, I was able to fall asleep a little earlier (2:30am vs. 3:30am) than the previous night, and woke up around 7:00am which is closer to my normal schedule. The worst part about lying in bed wide awake is that my mind starts to wander and I end up thinking about all kinds of stuff. I think it’s gonna take me at least a week to adjust this time around … I can’t wait to get back to this time zone!
Stopped off at the original Side Street Inn last night to pick up some take-out – red snapper steamed Chinese-style, and homemade corn chowder – and also ended up having a beer with Jerry and some of the regulars who were there watching the NBA playoffs. Side Street is such a comfortable place .. just like in that TV series “Cheers” (“where everybody knows your naaaaame”).
I just received this photo that was taken during our last show in Odaiba, Japan during this last Golden Week tour. Hawai’i’s own Jesse Kuhaulua, a former sumotori (Takamiyama) and stablemaster (Azumazeki), dropped by to catch our last show and was kind enough to join us on stage so that I could present him with a special IOLANI aloha shirt. This guy is a wonderful human being and is so well-respected in Japan! Mahalo for coming down to see us, Jesse!
Aloha, “D”
