‘Morning, all! Just found out yesterday that my good friend and fellow Thursday golfer has esophageal cancer and will undergo surgery next week. We got the news after golf yesterday afternoon and it REALLY bummed everyone out. Our prayers are with you for a complete and speedy recovery, brah ….
The news of our friend’s illness overshadowed an otherwise decent round of golf for me on a very blustery day. I actually shot and 81 and won all my bets, although it was really a struggle out there with all the wind and rain showers blowing across the course. Oh well, that’s golf …
We had a small dinner gathering last night for our close friends, the Yamanakas. Ruthann’s mom had just passed away last week in L.A. and Nick & Alex wanted to do something to cheer “Auntie Ruthann” up. So they planned a simple dinner of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, salad, and wok-fried sweet potato fries and onion rings. We had a nice time with just our two families and it was a nice end to an otherwise depressing day.
It’s nice to see more & more people in our IOLANI on Kona St. store lately. I think the word is spreading about our little boutique and people are starting to seek us out. If you haven’t been there yet, please stop by … I’d love to talk story with you!
Much aloha, “D”
