Good morning, everyone! I took a “blog” break yesterday and went to play golf with my boys and some friends out at New Ewa International G.C. … I played ok, but had a horrible front nine – shot a 45 (yuck!). We had a lot of fun, though, but I was so exhausted by the time we came home that I took a quick shower, watched some TV, and passed out early.
Saturday was a great day! First, the U.H. Warriors defeated #19 ranked Nevada in football, 27 -21, to remain in first place in the WAC division! Way to go, Warriors!! Yeehaaa! Although I didn’t go to the game, I had a great time at a BBQ over at the KoAloha Ukulele factory with the Okami family (owners), Herb Ohta Jr. and family, Jon Yamasato and family, other friends along with the KoAloha staff, and a group of visitors from Japan. The food was outstanding – especially Jr.’s BBQ ribs and the grilled Alaskan King crab legs! I always end up overeating and this time was no exception … I was so stuffed that I didn’t even have room for all the assorted desserts which included my favorite coco and green tea puffs from Liliha Bakery! Afterward, there was an impromptu kani ka pila session with various musicians (including yours truly) pitching in a song or two … so much fun! Mahalo to Alan, mom Pat, dad Alvin, Paul, Jr., and everyone else for putting on this wonderful event! It was truly a privilege to be there!
Today is kinda slow, but I’m starting to get ready for our Vegas trip this week … yay!!! It’s Carla’s birthday this weekend so we’re gonna take her to “Lost Wages” to party and relax!
Aloha, “D”
