Howzit peeps! It was another crazy night at Lulu’s last night .. the crowd was great and the hana hou’s were deafening! I hope those of you who couldn’t be there with us were able to catch some of the merriment via our live video stream on ManoaDNA Live! It was our friend Yutaka’s last night at Lulu’s – he’s moving back to Japan next week to care for his mother – so we tried to give him a hearty aloha farewell! We’ll be seeing him again tomorrow night at a farewell/ birthday party which his friends have planned for him at a karaoke place in Waikiki … should be a lot of fun! Also want to send a big mahalo out to Kara, Susan, and all the gang from the Dole Plantation out in Wahiawa who came down to party and support us! Eh, you guys … don’t wait another year before coming back to Lulu’s again! :-) Also, I’d like to wish the best of luck to my friend, Suwako, who is running in the Hilo marathon this weekend. She works for JTB in Japan and is quite an accomplished marathoner ..
We went down to Studio Rim yesterday to do an interview with Reiko and Hiroko for the Na Hoku Festival on May 27th – 30th. As always, we had a fun interiew with those two and were treated to some authentic Hiroshima chi chi dango (a sweet mochi rice confection) that was so ono! After that, I went to the Mariposa restaurant in Nieman Marcus to have lunch with Carla and our pal, Susan Sunderland, who is celebrating her 39th birthday … again!! Happy Birthday, Susan! After lunch, I hurried to pay a visit to kumu hula Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewitt who was in town for the day, before finally returning home to get ready for Lulu’s …
Whew! A very busy day, indeed!
Aloha, “D”
