Golf, Kani Ka Pila, and more ….

Well .. I finally have some good stuff to share with you guys today.  I know, I know … my blogs have been SO boring lately because I haven’t had anything fun to share and they don’t contain cool stuff like pics and Vlogs!  Anyway …

The “old guys” lost again yesterday at golf out at Ko Olina, although this time it took 17 holes for the “Young Guns” – Alex and Nick – to finally defeat me and Ichikura-san (probably because they gave us more “strokes”) :-).  Our first match was in Hiroshima where we got our butts kicked soundly – we were shut out after the 10th hole .. how embarrassing!!  But beware boys, us old guys are persistent and we will get you guys eventually ….

Then after a great day of golf, it was off to Kani Ka Pila.  It was a wonderful night as many of our family and friends came down to enjoy an evening of music and hula.  Our good friend and one of Hawaii’s premier ukulele masters, Herb Ohta Jr., was there with his family and his friend Shin, from JVC.  Also in the audience were our good friends Yutaka and Misa, who brought along some guests from Japan including kumu hula Charnelle Ke’alalani whom we met a couple of years ago in Tokyo, along with one of her top young proteges, Natasha.  Also there were the girls from StudioRim (where was Reiko?!) … thanks for coming down, girls, and see you guys next week!  We topped off the evening toasting our good friend, Takashi, who is going to be celebrating his 50th birthday early next month.  After a couple of rounds of Jaeger Bomb shots, we all were feeling no pain!

And finally, I’d like to send a big “Mahalo” out to our little buddy, Shion, for the cool candy lei which he gave me for my birthday last night.  I just have to make sure that our sneaky puppies don’t eat any of it!

Aloha, Lloy”D”
